Why counseling? Why medications?

Simply put, counseling works.  There's something about the collaborative relationship that's built between us, the time and space set aside for you to focus on your experience & desires and the structure of our sessions that provides you an opportunity to build and live a richer, more connected life.

Medications can also be very useful for some people & unnecessary for others.  For many, meds bring clarity, focus, and a wider range of emotional experiences.  When we prescribe meds, it's always within the context of a broader, holistic approach to wellness.  If you think medications may be helpful for you, we'll talk about the advantages & disadvantages, alternatives that you may be considering, and plans for keeping perspective about the role of meds in your personal goals.  

Regardless of the specifics about your personal path, engaging in therapy can be immensely beneficial.  Now is the perfect time to invest in the priceless medium through which life is experienced and expressed:  yourself.

In therapy, you may choose to:

• Turn down the self-doubt. Shift your thoughts to increase your confidence.
• Slow the racing, incessant thoughts. Focus, organize and tap into the immense power of your mind.
• Strike more balance in brain chemistry.  Make use of medications as one part of a broader, holistic approach to wellness & healing.
• Regulate the overwhelming feelings. Identify, honor, and more openly express your feelings.  Allow them to work for you, rather than controlling you.  
• Move through debilitating grief. Heal and grow from personal loss.
• Go beyond depression, anxiety, and panic. Listen to and learn from what these feelings have to tell you.
• Overcome physical, sexual, or emotional trauma and abuse. Find your vast reserves of inner strength.
• Find that voice you feel you gave up. Be your own best advocate.
• Move away from self-invalidating behaviors. Replace ineffective patterns with actions that work for you, not against you.  
• Get unstuck from loneliness and disconnection. Communicate more effectively, experience more intimacy, and make purposeful choices about your place in family, friendships, and community.
• Break free from boredom. Be more alive, present, and connected to your own experience.
